My current setup for live and recorded sound in a church is an RML32ai mixer on stage connected to an avb switch, going back to a CS18ai in the sound booth. I have audio at the CS for monitoring with the headphone jack, and I'm using the rear monitor outputs on the CS for the computer recording from the mixer and output to the mixer for music/presentations. I also have a router on the network so I have Wi-Fi and computer control of the board.

It has all been working well, except using the monitor outputs for computer recording is not a very good setup because I can't solo monitor while I am recording, and there is no multi track recording. So I just purchased a dante card for the mixer, and a usb dante card for the computer, thinking that would make my setup perfect for everything I need. I have not installed it yet because I am realising the CS is not dante, does this mean I can't use the monitoring features on the CS anymore? Is there any way around this? I can't lose this feature, but the computer recording needs to be improved, and I can't use the FireWire on the mixer because the computer is over 100ft away...

The CS18 is an AVB audio only device. It does not support Dante Audio. However, the CS18 will function as a controller for the RM regardless of which option card you install, as that protocol is done via standard Network code.

So, with the Dante Card in the RM Mixer, you will ONLY have control surface functionality with the CS18. Without using the AVB Card, you will NOT have Audio at the CS18 with Dante.
