When I plug in the Insert cable no audio on any of the channels. My patcher is set to THRU?

As soon as I plug an insert cable into the external insert connection on the rear of my StudioLive 16.4.2 the audio stops.  I have my patchy set to the THRU position.  Is the patchy setup correctly?
