For some plug ins, I want to use the VST2 version instead of the VST3. However, S1 automatically hides the VST2 version when the VST3 version is present (I believe that this is because the plug in Ids are the same, in my case I'm using the Arturia plugins).

I'd prefer to be able to control which plug in is loaded. For my current situation, this is motivated by the fact that S1 MPE support does not work with VST3 instruments, only VST2. So, I cannot use MPE with Pigments unless I disable VST3 entirely. However, I could see this being a general case where a VST3 version was problematic.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just fix the compatibility issue with MPE and VST3 plugins?

That would address my current motivation and should be done regardless, but...

However, I could see this being a general case where a VST3 version was problematic.

While I haven't had this issue myself, I have heard tale of VST3 versions being performance challenged or otherwise buggy.

I think PreSonus would be wise to stop trying to make all the decisions. Make sensible default choices, but let me override it if I want something different.
