Why is the channel audio level higher on my studiolive 32S than it is on my channel input in StudioOne 5?

I notice that when I set the signal level on a channel on my Studiolive 32S to `-12, which is where the peak hold turns yellow, when it routes the sound to Studio One the input level is peaking at around -22. If I increase the gain to get Studio One to -12, I am red lining on the Studiolive channel. I know the signal going to Studio One is being routed via USB, but I don't understand why the levels are not the same. Does somebody have insight into this?

I don't have anything else engaged on the studiolive channel. No eq, gates, compressors or limiters. I've only had this board about a week longer than version 5 of Studio One, which I got the week it came out. So I know there are many things I'm not familiar with about this setup, but I would think the audio level going over USB would match what is coming through the board.

I'm running

  • Studiolive 32S with the latest firmware
  • Latest version of Studio One 5
  • 64 bit Windows 10 machine with an i7 CPU with 8 gigs of RAM
