Custom Naming with CSV or Excel - "Between Each Marker"

This is something for my fellow voice actors who do a lot of sfx and foley for video games. For anybody that never uses the "between each marker" export can simply ignore this thread.

When you "export between each marker" a large number of files and need to name your files for the developer, it would be very handy to just import a CSV into your export dialog to rename the files all to the exact names used by the game. Just import the list and suddenly your exported files will all come out of S1 ready to pop into the game engine.

Renaming files is one of the longest processes in voice-over, and would be made a lot easier with that option.

so instead of

"01 Start - Audio"

"02 - Audio"

"03 - Audio"

...

it becomes:

"MalloryLocationGenerelIdle01"

"MalloryLocationGenerelIdle02"

"AcceptYield01"

...

Right now, I am able to run a batch file once they are done, but it would be a whole lot easier just to import a CSV right into the export process.

This could also work if people wanted to export song loops if they typically use the same format over and over (commercial audio). So along with the full song, you can also export certain parts easily and repetatively. Cutting out a bit of the naming that can eat up a lot of time in the long run.

So the above would become (with prefix)

"ukulele_happy_song - Intro"

"ukulele_happy_song - 30SecondBed"

"ukulele_happy_song - Tag"

The files would be readily named and could have the prefix added to them as usual (or no prefix for games as the supplied filenames are all the reference the engine needs.)

Anybody know what I'm talking about?

I understand your predicament. I agree it would be wonderful to have more file control functions - I use Steinberg Wavelab to do similar things since the text editor facilities is far beyond that of any recording DAW. It should be worth implementing into Studio One Pro Project as "Final Product Release" should consider functions like batch file naming.
