Can we get the option to stack audio when recording over another audio event? [Feature already exists]

When recording audio into a track, the new audio event will always replace what it records over, even with the "Record Mode- Replace" switch off. I'm championing a "stacked" option instead. Can we get it so the new audio event is stacked over the previous event. So that when you move or delete the new event, the previous event is revealed underneath. This is how Cubase and several other DAWs operate by default. There doesn't even seem to be an option for this is Studio One.

This is already available in Studio One.  If you choose "View->Record Panel" then enable "Record Takes"  and "Takes to Layers" you will get the stacked takes that you recorded all within one track.  You can then enable or disable a layer, delete a layer, create a composite track from the layers, etc.
