Question

This is something that I miss badly from Cubase.

When I want to record a new part in Cubase I press Record and every time that I make a mistake I can press Record again to: start again from the place I started recording and to erase everything that has been recorded so far.

In Studio One, there is an option so that when you press stop the cursor goes back to where it started recording but it doesn't delete the parts that you recorded.

So in Studio One the workflow to record something in the second take is:

1. Press Record

2. Play the instrument

3. Press Stop

4. Delete Recorded Parts

5. Press Record

6. Play the instrument

In Cubase the workflow is faster thanks to this feature:

1. Press Record

2. Play the instrument

3. Press Record

4. Play the instrument

Considering how often I do this, this is a huge time saver.

I know that in Studio One you can make the new recorded parts to replace the old ones (saving you one step in the previously mentioned workflow) or record multiple layers but this is inconvenient because 1) Sometimes you are recording a new layer and you just need to erase the ones that you just recorded. 2) You will end up having to erase anyway the tails of the old recordings if you were replacing them, or the recently recorded layers that you already know that are bad.
