I own an RML32AI, an RM16AI as well as I did own an RM16AI that someone had replaced the AVB card with a standard board from a non-AVB full mixer. I believe that I was still able to control the mix functions on the RM16AI that was "de-AVB'd", just didn't have the ability to transfer audio to or from the CS18AI. I imagine that the rack mount mixer and the CS18AI would have to connect via simple ethernet, or both would have to be able to communicate over simple wifi. I connected using a wifi dongle in the USB port on each.
Does anyone have a CS18AI and a newer series III rack mixer? Is the mapping for controls different? It seems that each would have to be able to be connected via Universal Control as well, which appears to be the same version of that software.
I did see this question on another blog post from 2020, but there was no definitive answer on that post. Jonny Doyle is with Presonus as far as I know, can you explain why the control function wouldn't work, minus the AVB control?
