can i use atom in logic pro 9 like a midi controller with an iamac 10.8.3 ?

i have got an imac ios 10.8.3, is it possible to use the atom in logic pro 9 ?

I can't install the studio one or universal control, does it work only like a controller midi ? can i use only he patch to controll my sample in logic pro 9 ?
