I am a mac user. When I click out of studio one while music is playing, the audio in studio stops. I've never had this issue before. I just upgraded to 5.2. I am confident it is an issue with 5.2 and High Sierra because i just tried an older version of S1 v 4 and did not have the issue. I also did not have this issue with the first version of S1 5. An help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

This isn't a Mac bug. I'm having the same issue on a Windows machine.

I have tested it on S1 v4 and it works as expected. I thought it was related to UAD Console since I noticed it when opening Console, but after seeing the original post I attempted clicking on the desktop while S1 played and I got the same issue. The performance meter turns into the audio interface icon with a white circle with a line through it (image attached) and if I hover over the icon the message says No Audio Device. If I click back into S1 everything goes back to normal.

I had "Release audio device in the background" selected. When I deselected it everything works fine now. I hope this works for you too.

Having the exact same issue on my Macbook Pro with Catalina.. I thought I was going crazy but it seems to be an issue if someone else is having it.

When I'm in Studio One...

When I switch to another app..

When I'm in a session and moving between Google Chrome or YouTube, this can create delays of 5-10 seconds with the spinning beach ball before I get control back. This can be problematic if I'm listen to some other music or a reference track in another application.

Hey guys, this is for the mac users. I reached out to tech support and they gave me a series of steps that worked like a charm. Here are the instructions they sent me:

Hi,

Thank you for contacting PreSonus Technical Support.

Please try a System refresh but please backup any Keyboard shortcuts and presets that you use daily :

  1. Go to Help>Open Settings folder.
  2. Copy the contents of the folder over to a new folder on your desktop.
  3. Close S1 and delete the contents of the settings folder as well as the "Extensions" folder.
  4. Open S1 and go to Studio One>Options (Preferences on a Mac) to reconfigure your settings.
  5. Test to see if the problem is resolved. If it is not, please feel free to copy your settings files back over from the backup that you created in step 2.

*If you are missing presets or Sound Sets after doing this, double-click one of your Sound Sets. They're typically located in Documents > Studio One > Sound Sets by default unless you've placed them in another location.

I hope this helps!!!

This is happening to me as well on my Mac and it has been driving me crazy. I can't make any adjustments in my UAD console while tracking because when I click on the console, Studio One stops all audio playback and says there's no audio device. As soon as I click back into Studio One, everything operates as normal. This has never happened in the past. It must have been introduced in the newest update.

I'll try this again.  The instructions a little further down this thread from alanbtysonli worked for me.

Same here, but with Mojave and S1 5.1. Did not happen before. Updated to 5.2, but no change. Also my external remote hardware suddenly sets my track level to zero. Changing audio interfaces did no change.

Tried to install S1 on my newer Macbook Air with a clean Mojave install and there it did not stop when switching to finder. strange. Have to try the refresh mentioned above.
