Hello,

I am working on a project with 50 audio tracks in 96k. When working, I am using not more than 5% disk and for whatever reason I get very often a disk overload that is not visible on the performance meter out of the red light.

I do not understand what is happening.

I have tried without success the following things :

-changing the dropout protection from Best to low and medium.

-clear cache

This is very annoying.

Here is my system :

Mac Pro 6.1 2013

12 core xeon

64 GB ram

1TB SSD with fast read and write bandwidth

macOS Big Sur

Latest studio one version.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Clement

I have exactly the same problem with Studio One 6. My system is i7-12700K, 64GB RAM, 2TB M.2 NVME WDSN850 Gen4. I get spikes even in 0% usage. Sometimes in 1% or 2%. It doesn't make sense to me.

I'm having the same issue, getting disk spikes with just 3 tracks, no plugins..I tried with another daw and it worked fine..

Same issue here. I had songs up and running working fine with low track counts and low "disc" numbers. And then on many different tracks in multiple songs, audio tracks drop out.  I can see the waveform, but the red warning light toggles on (with not even a slight meter move or other layers or FX coming in) and the audio no longer plays from that point. It will play prior to that point but not after.

I have tried running it off the internal SSD, and external SSD, changing block sizes and dropout protections. No change.

It is very annoying as it has destroyed several works in progress.

When you have a paying customer in the studio with you and this happens, it's embarrassing and non-billable.

I am currently experiencing the same issue.  I recently had a computer scare where we lost power, and my computer must've been going through an update while the power went out because I had to reinstall Windows 10 and just about everything else on my computer once it was up and running.

So I am not sure if there is some default setting either in Studio One or in Windows that is now making my projects overload and not playback correctly nor creating new tracks without the worry of overloading.

*UPDATE - I updated the firmware on my audio box (Studio1810c) and that seems to have actually fixed my particular issue.
