I am trying to use an external synth to input notes into notion and also have those note be played back on the synth.  Sometimes I can do one or the other, but not both.  Either I can input notes via the external synth and not get playback to the synth or I can input via the fretboard or keyboard in Notion and get playback on the synth.   I have the proper midi channel selected in preferences.  Mac BIG Sur 11.3.1,  latest Notion

That’s controlled in the Audio Setup of Mac OS X. Since my Mac broke I can’t give you detailed help here, but look carefully. As I remember, there are multiple places and ways to setup audio I/O in OS X. It can be a little tricky, but well worth the time invested to understand it. The Mac gives you a LOT of control over Input and Output sources and types.
