Mac:

  1.  Go to "Go" in the Finder menu, click on "Utilities," click on "Audio MIDI Setup," and double-click the "IAC Driver."
  2.  Press the plus sign to add some buses if necessary.
  3.  Open Notion and go to Notion>Preferences, MIDI.
  4. Set the MIDI Output ports to the desired IAC Driver Buses.
  5. Start a new score and choose "External MIDI" from the list of instrument families at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
  6. Choose your desired MIDI port and channel to set up an instrument staff.
  7. Exit Score Setup and your instrument will transmit MIDI to the IAC Driver Bus associated with that staff.
  8. Open your receiving program and set the same IAC Driver Buses that you configured in Notion to be the MIDI input for the channel that you wish to send the MIDI to.

Windows:

  1.  Download and install MIDI Yoke from http://www.midiox.com/
  2.  Open Notion and go to File>Preferences, MIDI.
  3. Set the MIDI Output ports to the desired MIDI Yoke buses.
  4. Start a new score and choose "External MIDI" from the list of instrument families at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
  5. Choose your desired MIDI port and channel to set up an instrument staff.
  6. Exit Score Setup and your instrument will transmit MIDI to the MIDI Yoke bus that you have configured in the preferences.
  7. Open your receiving program and set the same MIDI Yoke bus to be the MIDI input for the channel that you wish to send MIDI to.
