External source sounds get deleted when recording something else, why?

When I record from an external source into Studio One 3, then record a sound from Studio One 3, it deletes the external sound. Why does it do that? And how do I keep it from doing that?

This doesn't make sense. Please explain in far more detail your workflow and exactly what you are doing. Are you recording over the same track?
