Hi, I have a question that I've seen other's asking but no real solution for.

I have a StudioLive 32.4.2  AI mixer that we use for church.

Also have an iMac that I've connected to the mixer via firewire.

I was able to setup some digital input channels in stereo coming from the mac to the mixer.

We have sound equipment and performances that I'd like to stream via the same mac. So I need the post mixed sound from the mains to be routed back to the iMac as an audio input source.

I've tried setting the default audio-in source of the iMac to the ProSonus FireStudio source, similar to setting up the output source (minus selecting the channel to stream to in the speaker config)

I've also tried using JackAudio to try and make it more straight forward to route the channels. However that software is beyond my understanding.

So my question is, using the firewire is there a way (similar to the output procedure) to set the audio in source of for the mac to use the digital out from the mixer via the same firewire connection?

Thanks in advance!

Only one Software application can utilize an Audio Driver at any given time. You cannot 'share' the driver between two applications. This is true for most audio interfaces.

You are either going to 'accept' audio signal from software via FireWire OR send audio signal via FireWire to software, in regards to using just the mixer.

In these setups, you either want to have two different Audio Devices; 1 for audio playback to the mixer via analog cables, and 1 for audio output from the mixer to send to your stream service, assuming you're using 1 computer to handle it all. Performance will vary depending on computer processing power.

Otherwise, you will want 2 separate computers to handle playback and recording, with two separate audio devices handling each process. The mixer should be the central piece for accepting all inputs, then sending stream signal via firewire to software.

Any other 3rd party software used to route audio is not directly supported and would be up to you to configure and troubleshoot.
