Takes forever scanning sounds sets at startup

When I open S1 Pro it typically takes between 1 and 3 minutes scanning sound sets - it did not do this one I first had it (S1 3 when first installed) so I wonder what's going on?

I have tried moving sound sets to multiple locations as well as the default (which is on a fast SSD) - makes no difference whatsoever. My only conclusion is that the config is completely screwed and a complete rip and re-install is required (unless anyone can come up with a better plan). Can anyone suggest a fix or please advise of the steps required to ensure a clean installation, as I don't want to hit licensing/ activation issues or find I have simply reinstalled and picked up the existing (broken) config.

Not happy with this product and the way it is behaving at all, as I am also getting constant Melodyne crashes and cannot use the tool inside the DAW - but that's an issue for another day. For now, let's focus on the sound sets problem.

Appreciate any assistance - this one has me beat and is sufficiently frustrating to (almost) drive me back to CW Bandlab!

Not an answer, but I have experienced exactly the same thing and this has now been going on for months.  For me it takes around 7-8 minutes.  The sound sets are installed on a removable USB3 hard drive.   It hangs there on the line: 'Scanning Sound Sets...', but interestingly this only happens when first running the software after a computer boot-up, or restart.

If I just closed the software or a song and started another, or if I close Studio One completely, but don't reboot the computer, then this step only takes a few seconds.

I would like to know what would change if I installed an M.2 SSD on my laptop and then moved the Studio One sound sets to that?

Its now May 2020 and this problem has not been fixed by Presonus. I did a Google Search for this problem and found this post. Mine takes ages too, almost like its crashed.

Same issue in Studio One 5.

I changed my directories in the Options/Locations.  Every area I point to is an SSD; should be very fast, as I get great performance from this 12-core machine.  However, after mashing APPLY, the process runs and runs and tuns...no feedback- nothing...just runs and runs and runs.

This is USAT!  That Presonus would leave this open is terribly UNSAT..
