Question

I have already assigned the Record command, even though I have to press the footswitch twice: the first press does nothing, though I guess it could be arming the recording, the second launches recording. It works fine. But I would like to press the footswitch to Stop the recording, No arming command (if any).

you should be able to plug the footswitch and just press once to trigger the "Record" function.

If you are having to press down multiple times, you may consider getting a new footswitch.
