Using my Lenovo Yoga i5 ThinkPad, windows 10 -64bit laptop, during recording and playback recently (has been working fine for many months) the Audiobox shuts down, requires un-plug, re-plug just to get going for a few seconds before the ear-piercing power spike and shuts down again. In the first input I am using the supplied microphone and second input is from the headphone jack of my fender guitar amp, Epiphone Les Paul, active- EMG 81 & 85 pickups. Happens for both inputs, under variable conditions: None more 'strenious' (number of, plug-ins, layers, etc) than what I have recorded previously.

"ear piercing" noises, spikes and crashes/shutdowns are not normal and may indicate a more significant problem.  You may even have a faulty device.  You should create a support ticket so the Techs can further assist you in troubleshooting this issue.  They can also issue you a RA to have your AudioBox repaired if needs be.
