Currently when plugins do really incorrect things that cause 666 errors there is a huge popping noise as the audio engine shuts off. This isn't limited to third party plugins- the most recent release notes had a fix for Presonus' Impact XT causing 666 errors in the Console.

Can we prevent this noise without a big cost to latency? It’s very annoying when it does happen- I’d prefer if the audio engine shut off without such a disruptive noise going through all the headphones and monitors. From my recollection in Pro Tools and Logic you'd just get silence and a message box stating there was a problem that had to be addressed.
