I currently have the Qauntum but I am considering upgrading to a series III console.   I am so used to older stand alone multitrack recorders (BOSS BR-900) that I feel a series 3 console would be more familiar/easier to control.  What would this switch look like for me? Going from a thunderbolt interface to a USB 2.0 connection on the Series 3.

Is it worth recording to the DAW (studio one) directly via the console (latency with USB 2.0?).  Or would it be more feasible to record to the console disk drive and then send the track data to my iMac over USB?

Looking for suggestions.

While the Series III USB interface would be slower than the Quantum it depends on how you work. If you can monitor live inputs from the mixer as supposed to post DAW then the workflow of a console would be a huge increase in work flow. Combine with DAW mode it makes for a good all in one package. Just my 2c.

If you are happy with the current performance of the Quantum then maybe a FaderPort would help with your workflow.
