Looking for alternate solutions---autoscroll leaping back to start upon stopping, not good. Some looping configuration?

If I could get back to the previous start without selecting "return to start upon stop", since I want autoscroll on but I never want the display to leap back when I hit stop; I usually stop because I hear something and want to look at that spot closer.

Is there a separate command to take me back to the previous start place, or a way of setting the loop maybe? I'm willing to find another workflow to make it happen, so this isn't exactly a feature request, although I agree with the posts I pasted in below:

thanks

Hi.  Right click the transport bar over one of the controls.  Three options should appear.  Make sure that the option "Return to Start on Stop" is not checked.   If it is, uncheck it.  You will also see the keyboard shortcut for it of "alt/option+NumPad0" to switch this on and off at leisure.
