2626 - Setting precise input gain values - and returning to identical value later

Hi,

With the Quantum 2626, is there anywhere you can see precisely how much input gain is applied to a given input? I'd thought this would be digitally shown within the UC window - but it's not, you just have signal metering. Obviously you can adjust input gain using the knobs on the front of the 2626, but here's where I can see the need to know a precise value for what you've set:

Say I've set the input gain to certain value, then want to return later and set the exact same value for some overdubs - how can I get back to that same value? OK, I can set the input gain knob to around e.g. 10 o'clock position if that's where it was before - but it's unlikely to be in exactly the same position... hence the overdubs may be slightly louder/quieter. Surely there's a way to set the input gain precisely?

Or say I'm recording a stereo pair and want to set the exact same input gain value for left and right? You can do this roughly using the knobs, but how to check they're both at exactly the same value?

Hopefully I'm just missing something obvious here. Am using the 2626 with Cubase 11 by the way in case that makes any difference.

Thanks!

I have the same problem, specially with my outboard gear. You don't want to set the input level from your compressor with knobs, especially knobs without snap or numbers. When I use the send and return input the level is also lower than the output.
