So, I recently got a Launchkey 37 MK3 by Novation.
It's perfect for me, I love it. But then.. I found out how Presonus handles things.
Setting up a simple midi keyboard was already confusing, and I have set up many instruments in S1.
First I visited Novation's website, then read the guide, found out it included some wrong steps.
Then read the Presonus article linked in the Novation website, which was wrong as well, since it makes you setup a keyboard + instrument, but that's not the case for the Novation Launchkey.
So then I contacted Novation's assistance, they helped me and after 20 minutes, we got it working.
Only to find out that the integration is.. very minimal, poor and inefficient. Yes, it is adverstised as a great Ableton midi controller, but they also mentioned it works great with other DAWs. Well not really, or not in Studio One at least.
The Launchkey features a Capture Midi button, we have this function in Studio One now, but if you press it, nothing happens. Same goes for other buttons, that are not linked to Studio One (and even if you use the Novation Components, some buttons can't be mapped, as they are supposed to do some factory actions like play, stop etc.)
So I asked Novation and they told me that it all depends on Presonus. They haven't shared their script to Novation (and Arturia's) keyboards, so that's why they are so poorly integrated.
With Novation and Arturia growing more and more, with GREAT keyboards on the market, I really don't get why is Presonus sleeping on this. They are probably too busy advertising their Sphere subscription or a new product in their shop that probably no one will purchase.
Presonus, you really seem to be blind to the priorities here.
