I gotta bad shoulder that makes it difficult to use a mouse for extended periods of time. But it seems that I'm constantly forced to use one when I'd much prefer to keep my hands on my Faderport 8 and/or my keyboard controller for tracking, mixing, and, most often, for editing. For the life of me I don't understand why folks who produce external USB controllers like the Faderport fail to include basic mouse functionality into the units. Thus, we could keep our hands on our work and stop all of this mousing about.
I've included a mockup of what a Faderport might look like were such an advantageous feature included. Don't worry. It's just a mockup and I won't publish anywhere but here. Something like this sure would enhance my workflow and it'd help to make my shoulder feel better.
