Question

When recording midi, can they not record takes to layers the same as audio tracks?

I want to record a midi pass, then try another one after that muting the previous, then be able to comp the two layers.  I do this all the time with audio tracks, midi doesn't work the same?

Apparently you have to have both "replace" and "takes to layers" active.
