Just got my speakers!  Hooked up using rca connectors from speakers to 3.4 mm trs connector into Macbook Pro.  Getting this weird wave cycle sounding background noise -- even when I play an iTunes song.  It continues for a few seconds even after stopping the song.

What do I need to do?  I'm thinking balanced cable, but can't find anything that goes from 1/4" trs from each speaker down to one 3.5 trs connector into my computer.

I used Garageband for recording and mixing right now.

I appreciate your help.

Judy

Hi Judy,

Your best bet in this situation would be to use a separate audio interface instead of the 1/8" connector on the mac.  There may be issues with the mac power supply that are being picked up by the unbalanced connection and amplified in the speakers.

A simple 2 channel USB unit like and AudioBox should get the job done and also allow you to use balanced cables to the speakers.  Plus it will improve the audio quality over the built in pieces.
