Batch rename multiple events at once using variables

I make a lot of voice-response systems where I cut up a recording into many different events and then have to give each region a specific name. For example:

SMC_Message_001 = Welcome to *Company Name*
SMC_Message_002 = Please choose one of the following numbers..

Often many of these files have to be named in chronological order using numbers e.g. 001, 002, 003, etc.

The function: Event --> Rename Events, allows me to rename multiple events at once. It would be great if you'd have the ability to use variables. So using the example above I could do the following:

1. Select multiple regions
2. Event --> Rename Events
3. SMC_Message_00$+1

This would auto name all the events to SMC_Message_001, SMC_Message_002, SMC_Message_003, etc. Reaper has a great way of doing this, so you may want to look into how they did it. This would save me and perhaps many other users a tremendous amount of work.

Thanks in advance,

This and batch renaming channels should be implemented!
