Just purchased a StudioLive III Console and now I am trying to find out if Studio One can replace Protools (25 years experience)
First I have to say Studio One is in many ways ahead of Protools but too much focused on music based projects and not the jack-of-all-trades Protools is.
My company does a lot of post-production and so a lot of dialog editing.
With that workflow the one option I extremely miss in Studio One is pre-roll on playback.
That is the only way to quickly review any edit made.
Now I have to reposition the cursor after every edit or alignment. After 200 cuts/edits this becomes rather annoying.

BTW: I fiddled around with a custom macro with a cut, nudge one bar back and then play.
But with that I found out the playback buffer is not refreshed and does not playback the edit just made.

So why not add a pre-roll on playback to Studio One?

Preroll on playback is possible with the (free) Navigation Essentials add-on:

Enable Return to Start on Stop by right clicking the play triangle and then move the downward triangle where you want to start at. I also use play loops when going over the same part multiple times, just draw the loop at the top of the measure ruler, '/' turns it on and off. Preroll is enabled by clicking the wrench icon next to the metronome at the bottom of the screen. That's all I can think of that might help ya. Good luck.

I also do a lot of non-music audio editing.

Have you tried hitting the minus key or shift+minus on your 10-key?  That rewinds just a bit.  Adding shift constrains it to measure increments.

And if you press F it will prevent the window from scrolling beyond your edit point while you work on the edit.

Hope this helps,
