Presonus support made me aware that crashes/hangs are likely the cause of arbitrarily disconnected devices or related system operations after Studio One sits idle for a while. The given time frame was ridiculously small, so I won't even mention it here.
What we need is a routine within Studio One that periodically checks if a device has gone to sleep or disconnected for whatever reason, then a fail-safe routine needs to be initiated to prevent Studio One from crahing. Instead, the user should be informed via a message dialog so appropriate actions can be taken.
