Can I use the iOne to input guitar to Garageband on iOS, and if so, how?

I’ve been using an iRig 2 to input (cigar box) guitar to GarageBand, but there is no way of controlling input level which makes mixing a nightmare. Clearly, a proper audio interface between homemade instrument and iPad was needed, and the iOne seemed perfect- however, either the iOne will not ‘talk’ to GarageBand or GarageBand will not recognise the iOne. Or possibly both. Am I doing it wrong, or is the iOne simply incompatible with GarageBand? How do I resolve this? (I also have a Mac- haven’t dared try that yet as it would double and more the physical connections, and if it’s not going to work with GarageBand anyway, there’s no point wasting more money on the extra kit)

There are two steps you need to make sure of when connecting an iOne (or iTwo) to your iOS device.

Make sure it's connected properly: https://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/210044883-How-do-I-connect-my-iPad-to-the-iOne-or-iTwo-

AND

Allow your iOS device access to the microphone (ie Audio input from iOne (or iTwo)): https://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/210044983-Why-Audio-will-not-record-into-Capture-Duo-Capture-for-iOS-with-i-One-or-i-Two-
