StudioLive AR16 USB is visible and selectable as the audio source on Macbook but doesnt register sound

Getting a signal on the AR16 board. Apple system preferences recognizes the AR16 as an audio input source but when I select it, there is no sound signal. Universal Control installed and recognizes AR16. Pretty sure there is a simple solution. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ensure you have checked mix permission.
