Why is the Mic Input 2 not working correctly ?

I have a Presonus AudioBox USB 96 

While trying to record a Podcast the #2 microphone input does not seem to want to record.  It will only pick up a white-noise sound, making it impossible for me to record with two microphones.  

What could be the issue causing this?
