Why do my trimmed loops retain the deleted content?

Im sure this is easy but I've spent two hours on this and I cant figure it out. Here's the problem: I want to make a loop out of some audio. So I carefully trim it. Now I want to just hit alt-D or D to duplicate the loop and make a continuous drum loop. But every time I paste the new loop, it pastes the complete audio clip, the parts that I trimmed off are back. How do you permanently delete cropped content so that when you copy and paste it, it will stay the length that you trimmed it to?

thanks

I don't know the answer but I have a suggestion. First, a loop is designed to be hung drawn and quartered and still retain it's duplication properties. So there's a step missing, you haven't told it to become a static clip and to stop being so clever. I suggest doing all your trimming and then Bouncing it. The Bounced version should now be a normal, 'dumb' audio clip and you should be able to dupe it without any misbehavior.

I'm had the same trouble with a MIDI measure, I trimmed it back to half a measure but I can still hear the other half ringing into the next chord because trimming the clip doesn't trim the contents!

I had to Undo, shorten all the notes to half their duration and then reduce the clip size.

Studio One is a nondestructive DAW so that's probably the reason the trimmed parts are still there. However, you could get rid of the trimmed parts by creating a Sample One instrument track then drag your audio into it and trim it there. Then using a MIDI controller, record the sample onto the instrument track and bounce it to a new audio track. Now you can duplicate it. I was able to do this with S1 V5.01 Pro
