-20 db signal in to track but record signal is showing solid black when recording guitars DI through Studio live 16.4.2

using studio one 3.2.1.37177

When I record bass guitar and guitar via the DI into my studio live 16.4.2 then to my cpu studio one 3 (with the lasted updates as of 4-28-2016) my record signal is showing a fully clipped signal (solid black top to bottom when playing normal) even though the mix is showing a -20 db meter signal. It is not sounding clipped and is not showing that it is clipping the meter but I cannot see any signal peaks unless I pan way down the volume line. I never had this problem before but am now after I updated. Is there something I must set different when recording since this last update?

You may need to turn the monitoring button on for the track that you have armed.  Please update to the latest version of Studio One 3, version 3.3.4 as well as the latest version of Universal Control.  Here is a link to the latest version of UC:
