Can I connect a StudioLive 32’s Ethernet port directly to my laptop’s port without a router for DAW mode?

I’m reading that a router is needed - I currently have no need for one so I don’t own one. I’ve also read here and in the forums that some have it working with a direct connection between the computer and the mixer.  I will not be using any wireless devices to control the mixer.  I just want the control surface feature for Studio One on my laptop and am making sure I know what is needed before I purchase the console.

Yes, this is possible. You do not need a router and you can use a switch if you want.

Hi, I got a Studiolive 32sx recently. Actually I've some dudes. I'm trying to use DAW mode, so I'm trying to connect the ethernet signal to my PC (windows 10) through a adapter Usb-Ethernet because my PC doesn't have a ethernet port and I'd like to connect directly. I don't know if this is possible, I haven't found the way how to configure it.  Maybe I have to get a router.
