How to change VST volumes with dynamics?

I have a VST whose volume stays the same for all dynamics. Going from pppp to ffff doesn't raise the volume at all.

I tried creating a ruleset for this, but the only difference I could get was setting a dynamic to 0 to mute it. Velocities of 1 and 127 had the same volume.

Is there a way to set up a ruleset in Notion 6 that will:

  1. use different volumes for dynamics (make pianos quieter and fortes louder) and
  2. slide volume up/down with the crescendo/diminuendo hairpin?

I've browsed through the question section here and couldn't find a question or answer for this.

Yes, you can do that with Notion rules but it would depend on which synth/VST you're using. Typically the volume for shorts are done with velocity. But the volume for longs are usually done with the modwheel - which is usually CC1 (that's what the hairpin volume and CC value are for.) By using the modwheel you can change the volume while the note is playing. So if adjusting the hairpin values across from velocity doesn't change it look at the manual for your synth and it should state which controller to use, and change the hairpin CC to it.
